It's about time I leave Haruya a review since we've been a handful (at least 4) of times now. We love it since everything is pretty good and best of all, it's an amazing value. We always go to town on ordering which leaves us stuffed but our bill is never over $60. Where else can you go and get stuffed off good quality sushi, oysters, and sake for that price? It's become our go-to spot on our way home from hiking now.

The service is always fantastic too! I don't recall everything we've ever ordered but this last time we got the Haruya roll and it was bomb! The hama-hama oysters are always solid. They used to be $1 all day but recently raised it to $1.50/each which is still a great bargain! The salmon sushi was also delicious! Now if this place was more expensive, I wouldn't give them 5 stars so keep in mind that the value plays a big role in my rating lol.

Parking can be tough on the street but I believe there is valet service (I've always been lucky to get street parking).

Great sushi place with reasonable prices and plenty of options.

Their happy hour is 50% off all sushi and rolls. As well as $3 beers and $11 pitchers. Also, oysters are $1.50. Sushi quality is great for that price. Not the best, but good enough to get your sushi cravings out the way when you're on a budget. This place isn't your fancy sushi spot you go to impress a date. It is perfect for a group of friends trying to get their night started, especially with those happy hour prices.

I would recommend their dragon roll if you love eel like I do. Their kamikaze and blue crab roll were also really good. For the drinking I would just stick to the sake bombs next time.

Walked in 10 minutes ago with many tables available and set right in front of our group and the host told us to wait until another party who is being given their check to wait until they're done.

    Inconsiderate. Thoughtless. Unprofessional.

    Management should know about this.

50% off all sushi and rolls?? What a deal! Pleasantly surprised to find this out after randomly stumbling in this restaurant for dinner tonight. I will also say my thoughts also went to immediate skepticism because cheaper/inexpensive sushi can also cause red flags - low quality/old/bad fish is not something you want to risk!!

My boyfriend and I ordered an assortment of nigiri sushi (each order came with 2 pieces and ranged from about $3-$9, with the exception of more expensive items like japanese uni ($18)) and have to report back that the quality was actually pretty decent. They even fried the shrimp heads with the amaebi! Sushi rolls were also half-off, and the options seemed overwhelming at first because there were so many! After deciphering the menu a bit, I came to realize most rolls were either California rolls or shrimp tempura rolls with some assortment of topping/sauces.

Aside from the immediate "shock" value of the promotion, it seems unnecessary to me that they have the discount - just list the price as $5 instead of 50% off of $10.

All in all, this is a solid spot for your "weekly" sushi, nothing fancy, but something that will hit the spot without breaking the bank - especially with the 50% discount.

    Getting there:
Parking is a pain at time, but what do you expect on Ventura? Usually park at meter or a block or two away in residential area.

    Arrival:
Always aim to get here before the busy hour so we are always seated within 5 minutes. Servers always greet with a smile when we arrive.

    Food:
Food is very affordable here but quality is great. We frequently come here, at least a few times a month. Favorites include...

HH oysters are always $1 for Hama Hamas garnished with ponzu, masago, green onions and Tapatio. I usually ask them for the hot sauce on the side.
    Samurai Roll
    Hamachi Kama
    Sake Kama

    Favorite nigiri pieces are:
    Ikura
    Uni
    Salmon belly
    Yellowtail belly
    Albacore belly
    Scallop

    Service:
    Great service, always friendly.

    Ambience:
Very casual place with a lot of regulars.

    Overall:
One of our favorite places in the valley for a date night or after a long day of work.
